Suffer with Humility - Thomas à Kempis

When thou art oppressed with pain,
Think that 'tis no loss, but gain;
Suffering with humility
Yields a shower of good to thee.

Thou shalt honour thus the Lord,
Duplicate thine own reward,
Please the Angel hosts on high,
And thy neighbours edify.

Thomas à Kempis (1380 - 1471) The Netherlands (born in Germany but left at age 12)
