The Crazed Hour - Mohammed Dib

The crazed hour roams. Dark
You will recognize her
By her pall of dark hate,
Her pull of wind and cries.

Born of ancient calcites
And ocean fires,
Her doves offer death
A strange resplendence.

You will recognize her:
It is the hour of grief, the hour
Of russet blood on the vines,
Harried by the light.

Mohammed Dib (1920 - 2003) Algeria
