Remember Freedom’s Fields - Martin Kloess

Remember fields where once we used to play
The freedom of our hopes was by our side
Quite strangely they seem different today

Well seasoned sunshine took us far away
We saw tomorrows dazed and starry eyed
Remember fields where once we used to play

There were ideals which we could not betray
Within our hearts was carried heroes’ pride
Quite strangely they seem different today

What children would enjoy soldiers would pay
So cherished dreams would never be denied
Remember fields where once we used to play

Confusion came and dreams have lost their way
The monuments and reason people died
Quite strangely they seem different today

And here we are to wander our dismay
As blood familiar comes with every tide
Remember fields where once we used to play
Quite strangely they seem different today
