Shattering Mirrors - Lauren Li

I always thought that she was happier here than there
Her home without love, without life
We would have shared the same happiness, but
My happiness and my love
She took it all away
I guess it was naive of me
Thinking that we could have all the lives that we believed
       we were destined to live

Hours earlier, seconds earlier
I was laughing, carefree of the future
Again those thoughts go through my mind
Could I have prevented this?
Could I have stopped her from consuming herself
It is not my job to save her
Right?
It was something that bolted at me not like a lightning
         on a rainy night
But she could just not help herself

She did it
Ruined, Annihilated, Obliterated our peace
Diving directly for self destruction
Why?
Why today?
Why did it have to happen at all?
It was as if it were purposefully done, as if this outcome
           was her strongest desire

I want to call for help, but who can I call?
I am alone
Just alone
Without a person by my side
Without any happiness or love to look forward to
Just by myself
In the place that it is loneliest

In a single swift move, she destroyed everything I ever cared for
And what could I do?
Left behind the orders of others
I watched
I stood by the sidelines, tears striking down my face
Crying does not do anything
How could crying have solved my problems?
 It does nothing

You just end up alone.
