The Javanese - Marie Krysinska

                   The animated
                            Little idols
                            Oh, but
So slightly, this dance evokes the mad
Vision: from a bas-relief to living symbols
                   Hieratic and mute.

The delicate hands
Stretch out like yellow kittens,
And sometimes
The pale fingers

Open and flutter near swanlike breasts
          Like drunk butterflies
From aromatic April evenings, —

          While in broken rhythms,
Savage and subtle music rains.

Marie Krysinska (1857 - 1908) France (born Poland)
