Sleepiness - Douha Ahmed

Sleepiness hangs heavy
Like a fishhook from my mouth
The line is taut, like the rope on the wall
I carry on aboard this ship of the world, lonely
I carry on and the wink of an eye is like a kitten’s paw
I carry on intoxicated and foreign
I carry on…
The walls close in on my chest
And the fly in my head buzzes
I carry on and I stand tall
I carry on and I am heavy
