World Wounded - Francis W.L. Adams

She shall never know
I loved her so,
Or she would mourn for me.
    I’d have her say,
    When I am gone away:
“We were happy, I and he!”

So I for ever
Shall be to her
A sweet bright memory,
    And she shall know
    I loved her so—
And she too shall love me!
