You Had Given Your Word - Candan Erçetin

You had given your word to me
To stay here always by my me
We swore all this this didn't we?
That whatever happened, we would be together

Look how many years have now passed
Your last glance is my die-cast
What good is it for me to hold fast?
If only you had and we had faded

I don't know what excuse would give me comfort
Which crime is it that I did commit?
It does not convince me day nor night
Revenge like this is impossible

Is it too much this reproach you gave?
Is not this punishment too grave?
Tell me who you were seeing on time's wave
One cannot stay alone like this

She does not share the sadness
There is no way I can share this
There is no word to describe this
I will feel it more and more as the worries come

Another time in another street
There is no way we will meet
There is no way we will be complete
This will be seen more and more as the days go by
