Koha - Glenn Colquhoun

Aunty Kare gave me her recipe for making steamed-pudding.
She sits with me in church.

Carol showed me hot to cook fried bread.

I put sausages in my boil ups.

Tom Kelly growled me for throwing fish heads to a dog.
Buck showed me how to tie a swivel.
Andy says "Big bait, big fish."

Aunty Rongo taught me how to speak maori.
Then she taught me poker.
She hides lotto tickets in her bible.

Aunty Riwa showed me how to play housie.

Uncle Bill made me eat kina.
And rotten corn.

He taught me to stand up and greet people.
And then to farewell them when they leave.

He told me stories of when he was a boy.

Twice Uncle Tu gave me his tokotoko.

Aunty Maude has been looking for a wife for me.

I stay in a tin shed by the beach.
It belongs to "The Hood."

Maybelline swears in the doorway. She is five.

I think I have been colonised.
