hayfever - Jiaqi Kang

i don’t know the names of any flowers i’m sorry
except for this one time when i woke up in palo alto at 5am
(jetlag) and took photos of purple flowers in the suburbs
i posted them on instagram and my friend emily said i could use this app where you upload a photo of a flower and they tell you what it’s called
where i learned that northern california has a lot of agapanthus
a-ga-pan-thus
i practice saying it and remember to smile
the teacher at the yoga studio said that to be spiritual is to be amazed
at everything, and to use lavender because it’s calming
so i stop to smell the lavender outside someone’s house and i feel my heartbeat and i try to think,
this is my heartbeat i am alive it feels so strong and fast because i am alive
and that is good.
