Credo - Guy Tirolien

me too, I have my pocket credo
but don't go and repeat it before the garrulous winds
and the passing crowds
they'd laugh at you
I believe
that the sun is an egg of light
laid by the night
that the prayer will fall as raining fruit
into the basket of proffered hands
that the stars are souls that burn
that the earth is an orange for God's thirst
that the flower climbs to windows
to console the sobbing child
that the rock is a tree
that did not want to thrive
that kindness is that land we only reach
having left all our baggage
at the tollhouse of pain
that one and one makes one
even in the battles of pleasure
that the scent of sacrifce
nourishes the flowers of art
and that by force of love
tomorrow will be another day.
