Under the shadow of the jacaranda
She stood – waiting
Down the dark avenue a car was coming
She rushed to the street lamp,
Flashed her ’most naked body
It wouldn’t stop
Damn, she cursed
T’was so cold
The monster in the car –
He didn’t even care
But why should he?
She shivered
Another car was coming
She threw off her coat
The screech of brakes
She jumped in
T’was a Pajero
At least the rent could be paid,
She sighed.
Then she turned, smiled.
