Cinderalla - Chinedu Okezuonu

This ugly sight of yours
Knives my soft conscience
Melts the grease inside my knuckles.
I wonder how fair it is to you
To carry this pandora's box
upon your unkempt hair
Basking under the street sun
Like a disowned being.
Not a single penny in your side purse
Not even a loaf to chew the days with,
So much haggles with passers-by
Everything is beyond your reach
But you still stand for the Anthem
Holding your slim self for the nation.

Chinedu Okezuonu (20th century) Nigeria
