The Hay(na)ku of Numbers - Eileen R. Tabios

One
need not
rely on anyone

unless
One wants
to relax melancholy

though
such dilution
is mere rest

never
the multiplication
of One beyond

One

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Two
is not
one or three

but
two can
be a sum

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Three
is you
cheating on me

or
making love
with much generosity

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Four
is tricky:
It can split

into
two camps:
"X" versus "Z"

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Five
may not
be your favourite

as
five enables
one left out

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Six
is simple:
it simply is.

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Seven
will never
betray. Trust me.

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Eight
is hourglass
frittering sand away

but
done so
elegantly as to

generate
no complaints
again and again

and
again and
again and again

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Nine
is odd
without one more

⛯⛯⛯⛯

Ten
is one
opened up to

potential.
