For Esther - Bruce Levitan

Nothing so special as blood of my blood,
Infinity sleeps in the new born's repose;
Tiny hands clenched, lips like a rosebud,
Perfect in form; and mother's smile glows.

Watching my daughter holding her baby;
Feeling the love flow through the room;
This is God's gift: I pray that they may be
Blessèd and filled with the Spirit's perfume.

So family grows with each new generation,
Renewed and extended in life's vibrant tree;
Love will enfold and protect this creation:
Perfect and beautiful, cared for and free.

For my granddaughter Esther, born 28 August 2016
