A young girl - Albert Ferland

How sweet and beautiful to be young,
Where the soul retains its openness,
Where, fearing no storm is sprung
We know only happiness!

The child spends the day that provides
Joy to the heart and smiling eyes,
Not thinking of what future betides,
Less radiant day times.

But after your time of daybreak
You will tarnish your sky,
So enjoy the morning, no heartache,
Just singing, expect the goodbye.

Albert Ferland (1872 - 1943) Canada
Translation: Bruce Levitan
